Interest Groups

The SCNC Sunshine Committee consists of members helping members after a birth, during a family crisis, or any other time a little sunshine is needed! We are always looking for volunteers to deliver meals (any meal of the day) to member families. The meal doesn’t have to be gourmet, or even home cooked, just something to help out. If you are interested in preparing a meal, please contact Meredith Laban at meredith.laban@gmail.com.  Also, please let Jessica know of any member that may be in need of sunshine!

Below is an article that appeared in both the Scituate and Cohasset Mariner in 2010 about the donations we made to the local food pantries.

With the holidays approaching, the Scituate Cohasset Newcomers Club knew it wanted to do something to help those in need, so it organized its second annual Football for Charity fundraiser. Knowing that the food pantries in both Scituate and Cohasset were always in need of donations, and that the services they provide to both towns is invaluable, it seemed most fitting that they would be recipients. On Nov. 19, the Newcomers were able to present a check to each of the food pantries for $500 each. This is the second year that the Newcomers were able to donate to the pantries, and their hope is that these donations will make getting through the tough holiday season just a little bit easier.
