We will be making Christmas cards and ornaments to send to the
orphanage. You can pick a child's name for a Christmas care package to
be sent to Africa in December. What a great way to get your children
into the spirit of giving. See you all there! Please bring peanut-free
snacks to share. Cost per family is $5.00.
Dad & Me Please mark your calendars for a tour of the Scituate Fire Station on Saturday, November 15th.
We will meet at the First Parish Road station where children will be
able to slide down pole, sit on a truck and much more. We will meet at
the Seaside playground (behind Scituate High School) for snacks and
play after the station.

Cocktail
Club - At one past
midnight, on the third Thursday of November each year, over a million
cases of Beaujolais Nouveau begin their journey to Paris for immediate
shipment to all parts of the world (including Scituate/Cohasset).
Banners proclaim the good news: Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé! "The
New Beaujolais has arrived!" One of the most frivolous and animated
rituals in the wine world has begun.
Let's raise a glass on Saturday November 22nd at 8pm.
Please RSVP all events to: cocktailclub@scnewcomers.com

Community
Service -
Buntings and Blessings This
season, Community Service will host fundraisers to support two
charities under the umbrella title of "Buntings to Blessings." Both of
these groups are in need of much of the same items so each fundraising
opportunity will serve to help both groups of children. Cradles to Crayons
will focus on local children in need of new and gently used clothing,
school supplies, car seats and strollers. In addition to fundraisers
and clothing drives, there will be volunteer opportunities at the
facility in Quincy. For more information please visit cradlestocrayons.org. Newcomer
and Community Service Board member, Anne Roman, spent a summer teaching
in Tanzania and befriended Flaria Faraji, a fellow teacher who has
taken in 25 children who lost parents due to HIV/AIDS. The children at Flaria's Tuleeni Orphanage
are in desperate need of clothing, backpacks, school supplies, books,
basic medicines, and money for doctor visits and secondary education.
This is also a great opportunity to get our kids involved by
establishing pen pals with Flaria's students so they can practice their
English.
For more information or
to
get involved, please contact communityservice@scnewcomers.com.
